"Improv I" hung in the display case at John C. Campbell Folk School this past weekend. It's a collaborative work between the students from the “Intro to Improvisational Quilts” workshop in March and myself.

We donated this art quilt for the Folk School’s annual fundraising auction, happening this fall and hope it—along with the other craft items in the auction—will bring much focus to, interest in, and funding for the school.

Pieced, quilted and faced
The class attendees pieced these blocks during the Improv Quilting workshop in March. I was charged with assembling, quilting and finishing.

Documenting the quilting process
During my recent Intro to Free-motion Quilting class at the Folk School, I told my students how I often track the quilting process of my pieces. In addition to the time (hours) spent quilting, I track the number of bobbins used during the quilting process.

Make Nine 2024 finish
I'm counting this piece as fulfilling my Make Nine 2024 "Wild Card" prompt. And I hope it does well at the Folk School fundraiser.
